Grey Skies OOTD

Ok so actually it was a sunny day, but when it starts to get crisp here in Vancouver, I love the look of layering grey, taupe, and lavender pieces. It’s a twist on a basic, and a little softer than grey and black.DSC_0101

Outfit Details: Dress from Club Monaco (last year), Jacket from Danier (Similar here).

Bag is my Mulberry Bayswater in Graphite, which has a pretty metallic sheen in sunlight, but looks almost black inside (read – perfect for the office!)

Romping Around at the Weekend

Confession of a fashion blogger: rompers scare me. This is the second one I’ve ever purchased and I have to say it has challenged my preconception that rompers bunch up to create a fabric diaper meets jumpsuit look that only amazons can pull off.

I think this American Eagle one (available here) is especially good for petite frames because it has a short flirty look to it that is a little sexy but still loose and comfy.

I adore the print and when I grabbed it in the store I actually thought it was a dress, only to get my head tangled in one of the pant legs in the fitting room and then figure it out. DSC_0012

With pieces that are so boldly printed, I like to keep the accessories simple, as always. Sandals are by LK Bennet and bag is my Mulberry Medium Lily in Oak. This outfit also goes perfectly with worn leather booties to continue romping around in the fall.

Weekend OOTD Featuring Kit and Ace

I just filmed and uploaded a video doing a full haul, review and try on of Kit and Ace basic items. One of them is the Noosa T-Shirt, which is probably my favourite white T-Shirt, ever, because I love copper detailing of any kind.

Here is how I styled the Noosa T-Shirt for a relaxed weekend brunch and afternoon with friends.DSC_0058Outfit: Kit and Ace Noosa T-Shirt, Current Elliott Jeans, DUO Wedges and Chanel Vertical Flap vintage caviar leather handbag.  Necklace is from Blue Ruby.DSC_0078

Chia Seed Pudding Healthy Breakfast

This is more of a technique than a recipe, but it is so tasty!

Did you know that if you soak chia seeds in your milk of choice overnight, you get a delicious velvety pudding in the morning? If you like tapioca or rice pudding, this is like a healthier version that will still keep you full until lunch.bfast

Raspberry- Apricot Chia Seed Pudding

1/4 cup chia seeds

1 cup milk of choice (I use whole milk, or for a treat, full fat coconut milk)

1/2 cup frozen, thawed raspberries (or fresh, mashed)

1/2 cup of chopped fresh apricots

1 tablespoon of sweetener ( I like maple syrup or honey)

Toppings of choice. I used more apricot, coconut chips, pistachios and bee pollen

Combine all of the above except the toppings in a tupperware and give it a shake to make sure the seeds don’t stick to the bottom. Refrigerate overnight. In the morning, stir it up and top with some crunchy toppings. This recipe is also delicious with mango or blueberries.

PS: If you want to make it into a dessert, add some cocoa powder and more sweetener!

Battle of the Balm Cleansers

Balm cleansers, sometimes called hot cloth cleansers, exploded onto the beauty market over the last year or so, and have pretty much eclipsed makeup wipes. This is for good reason in my experience, because a good one will need result in a lot more moisture, and a lot less rubbing and irritation to remove your stubborn makeup. That is, if it is a good one. The bad cleaning balms result in greasy mess that gets into your eyes, leaving you with blurry vision and a streaky face.

1. Soap and Glory the Ultimelt

IMG_5421In my recent fashion haul, I showed you Soap and Glory’s version, which comes with a cloth, and a neat compact tube that is easy to travel with. Like all their products, it also has a cutesy name. It’s the only drugstore cleanser I’ve used, and is pretty good for the price, although you don’t get very much product.  I found it worked well as long as you use the cloth. If you don’t you will struggle to remove your eye makeup, as the balm is thick and doesn’t do a fab job of dissolving your makeup until you lift it off with the damp cloth.

2. Josie Maran Argan Cleansing Treatment and Cloth

This one also comes with a cloth, pictured,  and retails at an eye-watering 60$ for Sephora. I hated it so much on using it that I returned it. The cleanser is very thick and oily and makes your makeup more difficult to get off than any other cleanser I’ve ever tried. Even using the cloth, it just rubs the greasy mess in more rather than lifting it off. After rubbing away, I was left with an oily irritated face.

3. Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Melting Cleanser

This is what I exchanged the above cleanser for. It is my favourite of all the makeup removers I’ve ever tried. It smells like juicy gummy bears, and has a strange but fab consistency. In the jar, it is a jelly, but when applied the face, turns into a light oil. Massage in for a minute, and then add water to turn it milky and easily removable. I do think you get best results with a damp cloth, but you can get away without and still get your makeup off. it is cheaper than the Josie Maran at 42$, and will last a long time because you only need a dab from the jar.

Tropicana: New Tieks Flats and Escada Bag OOTD

DSC_0390I thought it would be fun to post an outfit featuring my new bright handbag from Escada, as hauled on my channel here. Serendipitously, it matches an old sweater from Anthropologie, so I decided to go for a breezy matchy matchy look.

DSC_0384I’m so happy with the quality and colour of this handbag. I would highly recommend Escada bags for any of you who care about quality above brand recognition for bags. My sunglasses Dior Summerville tortoiseshell, and my shorts are from Dynamite.

DSC_0359As for my rose gold Tieks flats, worn above, those are also a recent purchase. They are foldable, and buttery comfortable from the first wear. I love that they come with a cute pouch I can toss in a suitcase or handbag. I think the rose gold pairs nicely with their trademark teal soles. The rose gold is a little more pink than I anticipated in person, so perhaps in hindsight I would have gotten the copper. However, I think the quality is just as nice as the Tory Burch Reva flats I’ve always otherwise been loyal too, and they come in a rainbow of fun colours which I like.

Sunset colours like orange are definitively my thing right now, and I love wearing brights for spring and summer, both in and out of the office!

Spring Brunch Outfit

DSC_0256In the winter, I tend to keep it very simple and casual for brunch. But when the weather gets lovelier, I gravitate towards a more flow pieces, aiming for a ballerina off duty look with a modern twist. I wore this outfit to Chambar in Gastown, where I had a duck confit salad, in case you’re interested!
